Early Beginnings
A passionate and experienced cosmetologist with a deep love for all things beauty. Originally from Pittsburg, California, Michelle spent her formative years in Cleveland, Ohio. Michelle’s Beauty journey began at Polaris Career Center, where she studied cosmetology while completing in high school. From there, Michelle launched her career at JCPenney Salon in the mall, honing her skills and developing a passion for the art of hairstyling.
Michelle’s Professional Growth
After Michelle’s time at JCPenney, she joined a local salon and spa, where she specialized in creative cutting techniques, vibrant color work, Brazilian blowouts, extensions, and bridal styling/makeup. Michelle soon found herself collaborating with local photographers and businesses on creative shoots, and this was when she truly fell in love with the process of building an artistic look from start to finish.
The New York City Adventure
Eager to broaden her horizons, Michelle made the bold decision to move to New York City, where she worked on set with talented fashion photographers, models, and up-and-coming creatives. This was an exciting chapter, as she was able to deepen her understanding of the fashion and beauty industry while working alongside some of the best in the business.
Journey to California
As Michelle’s time in New York City ended, she felt a calling to move to Redding, California, where she continued her salon work while also expanding into photoshoots, with her hair and makeup featured in local magazines. This led to the opening of her very own salon, C’est La Vie Salon, where she began offering one-on-one education for other hairstylists. Michelle took pride in teaching techniques, sharing knowledge, and encouraging others to pursue their craft with passion and precision.
In addition to hairstyling, Michelle began hosting makeup classes, further embracing her role as an educator in the beauty industry. The joy of teaching and empowering others has truly become a cornerstone of Michelle’s 15+ years career, and it’s something she is excited to continue expanding.
Michelle is excited to introduce new educational resources (online and in-person) and to continue sharing the passion and insights Michelle has gained over the years.
